Less is an adverb, not an adjective.
You are not removing design. You are removing friction. The struggle. The repetition. The part where a machine tries to make aesthetic decisions it was never equipped to make.
"Design. Less." means design faster. Design with less friction. Design with less repetition of what should never have been repetitive. The period after "Design" is intentional. It is a full stop. A command. Not a modifier.
The Escape Character
The backslash in D\ is borrowed from computing. In every programming language, the backslash is how you escape. How you break out of the current context into a different one. C:\User\System. A path. A boundary marker.
D\ is the escape from the old paradigm. The one where design was decoration. Applied after the fact. Separate from substance. When you use D\, you are escaping into a different way of thinking about design entirely. Design is infrastructure now. Not cosmetics. Not something applied on top. Something built into how things express themselves.
Every escape needs someone who saw the wall first.
LESS
Layered Expression Style Standard
Expression because it is about what agents express, not just what they execute. Style because taste has structure. Standard because it needs to be reliable, repeatable, invocable.
Layered because brand expression operates at multiple depths. Tokens at the surface. Patterns underneath. Judgment at another level. Intent at the foundation. Each layer depends on the others being clear, consistent, and purposeful.
